The Iveagh Market Restoration Project site lies
in a pivotal position between the high density multi storey apartment developments constructed on Cornmarket and a preceding 2 storey low density housing of the residential conservation area at John Dillon Street and the Iveagh Market itself.
The project design has taken the opportunity to plan the various buildings around a central spine which will be a new pedestrian street. The pedestrian street begins with the existing Market Passage to the west of the market building. This will be enclosed by the hotel building on the opposite side of the passage. This pedestrian street will be continued on the other side of Lamb Alley and passes through the two blocks of the aparthotel. Beyond the aparthotel outside the project site, the pedestrian link is continued by the existing passage to the side of the Tailors Guild Hall.
